Prince George Fire Centre crews have been dealing with a number of fires over the past week, however none of which have actually been in the Prince George area.

Fire Information Officer Jill Chimko says several of them were caused by lightning.

"We've had 32 fires in the past week, and we're continuously getting more throughout the entire fire centre. We haven't seen any in the Prince George zone itself, but we have had crews from the Prince George Fire Centre actually working up north on a lot of these other lightning fires."

Chimko says the majority of the fires are in the Fort Nelson area, with some in the Vanderhoof and Fort St. James areas.

She says there was one human caused fire in the Prince George area, where a picnic table caught fire.

That fire is still under investigation.
