NewsHome Construction Projections Solid for the North
While new home construction in Prince George continues to rise month after month, the future is also looking just as bright. According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's latest market outlook, the region and the province as a whole will continue to see modest growth in new home construction. CMHC Regional Economist Carol Frketich says the projection is for a total of 210 detached housing starts in Prince George by the end of 2012, and 230 next year. "It is in line with underlying economic and employment demographic growth, but the level of activity is still well below the level of new housing starts we saw in the mid 2000's," said Frketich. Across the province, a total of 28,500 new home starts are expected by the end of 2012 going up to just over 30,000 next year. Most Viewed Stories
