Initiatives Prince George wants to look at shipping perishable exports to Asia from the Prince George Airport.

CEO Heather Oland says they're applying to the Northern Development Initiative Trust Feasibility Studies program for a 15 thousand dollar grant.

"It's looking at our opportunity to increase the amount of perishable exports from the region. There's a number of different perishable goods that can be exported by air, and what that does is create a competitive advantage for the cargo freight opportunity. So a competitive advantage that we have is to fill up the planes with export products from our region."

Oland says the study will look at things like target markets for perishable goods in Asia, BC airfreight export activity, product availability, and how to develop this export market opportunity.

The decision from the Northern Development Initiative Trust on whether to fund the study will come on September 21st, and Oland says if approved the consultant is ready to start work immediately.

The report would then be done by mid January.
