The University of Northern BC stressed the importance of public information when it comes to bio energy at this year's International Bioenergy Conference in Prince George.  Over 400 delegates learned how UNBC uses open dialogue to teach people about alternative energy development.  VP of External Affairs Rob Van Adrichem says all groups at the university are involved in the process.

"Whether its our own students or our own employees," says Von Adrichem, "or whether it was how we've communicated with the public about our projects that was really what we talked about was how to develop public support for energy development especially bio-energy."

Van Adrichem says this open dialogue was used heavily during the construction of UNBC's bio energy plant.  He says having the plant on campus has reduced their energy consumption by almost 90%.
