NewsFraser to Crest Tuesday Afternoon
The latest projections from the B.C. River Forecast Centre has the Fraser River peaking at South Fort George sometime this afternoon. The river is expected to crest between 9.95 and 10.02 metres. High River levels are expected to persist for the next several days. City Spokeswoman Chris Bone says additional temporary diking has been set up in Paddlewheel park which remains closed and a dike system set up along Farrell Street has been expanded. "The expectation is that we won't be expanding our evacuation orders in terms of numebrs so at this time it will remain just with the 17 residences on Farrell Street and the one residence on Regent Crescent," said Bone. The cresting up to 10.2 metres will fall short of the record reached in 1972 of 10.44 metres. Prince George's Emergency Operations Centre will continue to monitor levels and provide updates as necessary. Most Viewed Stories
