District of Vanderhoof crews will be dealing with the aftermath of Wednesday's storm for some time.

The town was hit by a half-hour torrential downpour in the afternoon and hail the size of quarters in some areas.

Superintendent of Public Works Paul Carver says the most noticeable damage is visible along roads.

"There's been some damage alongside the roads, some washouts, shouldering, that type of stuff," says Carver.  "So we've had our crews go out and put up some barricades and pylons and that type of stuff to make some of the edges of the roads safe for the residents."

Carver says road problems that pose the greatest safety concern will be fixed as soon as possible.

He says repairs could take some time as the town is currently in the middle of construction season.
