School District 57 has announced its new District Principal of Aboriginal Education.

Victor Jim is a member of the First Nations Schools Association in Vancouver and has had lots of experience working with Aboriginal students.

Jim says his main focus is to make Aboriginal children feel like they belong in the district.

"As well to improve grad rates, keep our kids in school longer, and at the end of the day I would like our kids to live in both societies. Our society and the larger society."

Jim says he's want to make Aboriginal students feel welcome when they move into the district.

He will begin his role with School District 57 next month.
