The accessible playground slated to be built in Duchess Park as part of its phase two project will be constructed with help from donations.

Mayor Shari Green says the city has received a couple of donations from businesses in the community for the playground.

"We were very pleased to hear that Fortis BC has made a great donation to the accessible playground at Duchess Park, and Scotiabank as well has gifted some funds which is great in terms of the budget and the opportunity to do more with that park."

Fortis BC donated 25 thousand dollars, and Scotiabank gave 1 thousand.

The budget for Duchess Park phase two project was 666 thousand dollars, but with these donations it has been increased to 692 thousand.

Green adds that anyone in the community is welcome to donate to the project.
