NewsNew Book Documents Lheidli T'enneh Cemetery
A book released by the College of New Caledonia today looks into the history of the Lheidli T'enneh Nation's burial ground in Fort George Park. The late Kent Sedgwick is the author of the book "Lheidli T'enneh Cemetery, Prince George: a documented history". His wife Sue says the City wanted to look at the graveyard and the parametres of it, and Kent took on the job. "Prior to Kent doing this, nobody was really sure. There was a lot of hearsay, and oral history, but not mapped out history. There was some confusion over where the actual graveyard lays. So he got involved, and he loved research." Sue says Kent started his research in 2006, and completed the book last year, shortly before he died. It looks into the origins and changes in the cemetery that's been around for over 135 years.
