The Yellowhead Rotary Club is bringing a special kind of bbq to the PGX this week.

A group of Rotarians that call themselves Yellowhead Smok'n Good Meat will be cooking up Texas-style meat on an authentic Lang Smoker from Georgia.

Chair of group Roy Spooner says they've been using the bbq as a fundraiser for the rotary club.

"We purchased from the state of Georgia a custom built competition bbq. It's wood fired, and turns out the traditional Texas or southern states slow low cooked barbecued meats."

Spooner says the rotary club has been looking at new ways of raising money because of restrictions on gaming grants and the uncertainty of their amount.

The Yellowhead Smok'n Good Meat crew will be barbecuing at the PGX all week, and as well they will be at the Baseball Canada Senior Men Championships later this month, and the Prince George Symphony Orchestra's Pops in the Park in September.
