A Supreme Court Justice has given a ruling in an Haldi Road resident's case against the City of Prince George.

Janice Sevin asked the court to quash the rezoning of Haldi Road Elementary to allow for a women's treatment centre.

The Justice has ruled in her favour and declared the zoning bylaw inconsistent with the Official Community Plan.

City Manager Derek Bates says this means the Northern Supportive Recovery Centre is on hold for now.

"It means that the zoning does not allow it and nor can the City issue the required building permits to allow for the project to proceed at this point."

The Justice dismissed Sevin's argument that the rezoning bylaw regulates the users and not the use of the property.

Recovery Centre Board Chair Dr. Michelle Sutter says next steps will be decided after reviewing the judgement.
