North District RCMP are still investigating a downtown Prince George collision involving a police SUV and a Honda Civic Sunday night.

Both vehicles have been written off after the crash at 4th Avenue and Winnipeg.

The condition of the three occupants of the Civic is improving as Sergeant Pat McTiernan says at least some have now been released from hospital.

"We don't see speed to be a factor, we believe everybody in the crash was wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash either," said McTiernan.

The police officer is on medical leave suffering from minor injuries.

McTiernan says officers have spoken to several witnesses but he is asking for anyone else who may have seen the crash to come forward.
