Concerns about a brake check on Highway 16 West will be addressed during a public meeting tonight.

The Beaverly Community Association has arranged the meeting with the Ministry of Transportation.

Spokesman Tim Drewcock says it is time for residents to share how the brake check has compromised their safety.

"Locking up brakes to avoid trucks, trucks pulling out in front of them and having to swerve into oncoming traffic to miss them.  There's numerous numerous close calls, as well as a couple of minor accidents."

Drewcock says two private meetings have already been held with the ministry in a bid to move the brake check.

He hopes stories shared during the 7:00 pm meeting at the Beaverly Fire Hall will help achieve this goal.
