The Lakeland Fire Assistance Fund has grown to more than $400,000 in just under two months.
The Community Foundation started collecting donations shortly after the explosion and fire at the Lakeland sawmill.
Spokeswoman Judy Neiser says she has been touched by the many fundraisers organized by residents.
She gives the example of two young girls who canvassed for donations outside of Superstore.
"They stood there for hours and hours and hours with posters and pictures. You know, that's not something a lot of people will necessarily commit to, but they captured the hearts and were able to get a very nice donation of $1,930 from many residents in Prince George."
Neiser says some large donations still need to come in and more fundraisers are planned, so the total should rise.
