Prince George, B.C.

The Lakeland Mills planer mill and district energy system will be back in operation on Tuesday.

There have been no significant readings of explosive gases, and WorkSafe BC and the Prince George Fire Department have confirmed that.

It was on June 22nd when a soil vapour sample taken at the sawmill returned high methane levels, and as a precaution for the safety of the employees, operations were shut down.

More soil vapour samples are to be tested in the coming weeks, and Lakeland now has an ongoing methane monitoring program for the planer mill and energy system.
