One of the world's largest aircraft is on a runway at the Prince George Airport.  An Antonov-124 cargo plane is making a pickup for a Vancouver Island Helipcopter contract that will see the helicopters going to the African country of Angola.  Vancouver Island Helicopters Director of Maitenance Russ McGowan says the choppers will be used for the country's upcoming elections.

"I think there's 18 provinces," says McGowan, "and we'll be stationed at the provincial capital and just flying to the hotels and villages,"

Prince George Airport Authority President and CEO John Gibson says providing the runway for this transaction helps raise the profile of the airport.

"And it also helps us in selling other companies to use the airport for what we designed it for and that was fuel and cargo airport," says Gibson.

The Antonov will depart from the Prince George Airport tomorrow morning.  It will then go to Edmonton, the Azores in the North Atlantic before reaching Angola.
