A society formed to provide a safe place for survival sex trade workers in Prince George needs a new home.

The New Hope Society's current building is being sold, meaning it must vacate the premises by year end.

Project Coordinator Jan Wilson says she is optimistic a new downtown location will be found by this fall.

She says if that does not happen, survival sex trade workers will lose a valuable resource for services.

"There would be no other totally safe place for street women to go to.  There would be no one to advocate for them," says Wilson.  "As one of the girls said last week, she said, Jan, if this place wasn't here I'd be on the street 24/7."

Wilson says the society can only afford to be open on Tuesdays, but still helps 18 to 35 women each week.
