Starting today Walmart has partnered with the Canadian Red Cross to raise money for the Red Cross disaster preparedness and response activities.

Sharon Dhillon is with the Red Cross.

She says, "for three weeks in August, Walmart Canada stores across the country will raise funds to support local Red Cross disaster preparedness and response. Walmart associates will ask customers if they wish to support the Red Cross with a donation of a dollar or two."

The fundraiser will run until the 26th.

Dhillon says the fundraising goal is 8 thousand dollars, and in the past Prince George has done relatively well in raising close to that amount.

The money helps the Red Cross with having the supplies and trained volunteers for any emergency in BC.
