The Minister of Environment says he has some tough questions for Enbridge about the Northern Gateway Pipeline.

Terry Lake says the provincial government has formally submitted its intention to cross-examine the project, that would see twin pipelines run from Alberta to Kitimat, at the Joint Review Panel's hearings. "There is a high level of public awareness and concern about heavy oil pipeline proposals in British Columbia, particularly the Enbridge proposal, since it is in the system already. I think it is important that British Columbians understand our role as an intervener and how we are working on behalf of British Columbians to ensure their interests are protected."

Lake says their questions will revolve around spill prevention and response along with financial responsibility for cleaning up any spills, they should take place. The province has not been given an exact date for its cross examination yet.
