158 flagpoles are standing tall at this year's Prince George Exhibition in honour of fallen soldiers.

Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum staff have set up the flagpoles with help from volunteers.

Executive Director Ranjit Gill says each flagpole represents a Canadian soldier who has died in Afghanistan.

"There are approximately 40 families here in Prince George that needed support and this is a way to support them and this is a way for the community not to forget our soldiers, which is really important to these military families."

Gill says the name of a fallen soldier has been emblazoned on each flagpole.

They will be up for the five days during the PGX.
