NewsBCGEU Members to Strike in PG on Monday
On Monday, members of the BC Government and Service Employees Union will go on strike, this time also affecting Prince George. BCGEU President Darryl Walker says members continue to fight for a new collective agreement. "We have been in the middle of contract negotiations since the middle of January. We're unable to attain an agreement that's fair for our members. We've been almost three and a half years without a pay raise. We took two zeros in the last two years, and we continue to fall behind simply the cost of living." Walker says the strike in Prince George will affect Plaza 400 which involves workers with the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, and the Ministry of Transportation. Strikes are also taking place in Cranbrook, Nelson, Dawson Creek, and Burns Lake, amounting to about 500 members striking. Most Viewed Stories
