A program run by the Prince George Public Library that recently stopped due to lack of funding is back again.

Communications Coordinator Andrea Palmer says the "Books for Babies bags" are once again available for new parents.

"It's been ongoing for a number of years, lots of parents will remember coming home with those bags. We use to depend quite a bit on provincial literacy grant money, and that money is simply no longer available to this program. So we had to make a shift to other funding sources, which allowed us really to just make more partnerships within our community."

Palmer says a number of organizations in the city stepped up and provided books and CD's for the program.

She says the program is important because new parents can be overwhelmed with health information, pamphlets, and various organizations to contact, so it's nice to have books and other goodies to go home with.
