With winter approaching, contractors working on Prince George's new RCMP detachment are working feverishly to get much of the exterior complete before the snow flies.

The new building at fourth at Victoria recently had the District Energy System connected which will serve as the detachment's main heating source once it's operational.

Project Manager Greg Anderson says the building remains on schedule.

"Once the roof decks are in place then we'll see things like roofing membranes being applied and then the external enclosure of the building," said Anderson.

Anderson says the building's enclosure must be complete before winter when interior finishing will be the focus.

The new detachment should be open late next year.
