NewsKPMG Releases Opportunity List for Core Services Review
The list is out and the public now has a chance to take a look at KPMG's 193 opportunities through Prince George's core services review. Mayor Shari Green says the suggestions come from a variety of people. "About a third come from staff, about a third come from council, and another third come from the public. So for me, that's a significant contribution from everybody who has a stake in the decisions that city council makes. There's some big budget items, and some small ones, but I'm really looking forward to hearing what the public input's going to be next week." Green says a public meeting will be held Tuesday night at the Civic Centre, and residents are asked to register beforehand. At the same time there's also an online survey available on the city's website, and Green says it's important residents thoroughly read through the list before answering the questions. CUPE 1048 is reacting to the list, and President Janet Bigelow says suggestions like privatizing the Four Seasons Pool, or contracting out garbage collection, are potential changes that could have a large impact in the quality of services that residents receive.
