Prince George, B.C.
Up to 60 unemployed workers in Prince George will benefit from funding announced for a training program on Thursday.
The provincial and federal governments have provided Employment Action with $560-thousand for its Seasons Employment Program for Older Workers.
The money will allow unemployed people aged 55 to 64 to take part in a combined 16 weeks of classroom training and work experience.
Nechako Lakes Liberal MLA John Rustad says the investment is money well spent as it will help fill jobs.
"As these people transition from one job to another, they may be missing a few skills that they need to enhance or perhaps look at a change in the skill set to fit in within the workforce."
Participants will continue to have access to mentoring and support services after they graduate from the program.
