Chamber of Commerce Presents Core Ideas to Finance Committee
The Prince George Chamber of Commerce was among a number of presenters in front of the provincial government's finance committee yesterday as part of community budget consultations.
CEO Jennifer Brandle-McCall says most presentations focused on specific spending items and where residents believe tax dollars should be spent.
But the Chamber decided to take a different approach.
"We really thought it's better to allow the people that have been commissioned with that job to do their job but make those decisions thorugh a lens of really good core principles that any decisions can be made," said Brandle-McCall.
Those core principles highlited by the Chamber include returning to a balanced budget before any new spending.
Yesterday's hearing was a busy one with all registered presentation spots filled while others were allowed to speak at an open mic session.
The committee is now wrapping up public hearings with a pair of stops on Vancouver Island.
