The focus of Northern Gateway Pipeline hearings in Prince George has switched to preparedness for oil spills.

The Province has been the first Intervenor to take the stage, with Lawyer Christopher Jones asking questions.

Jones has posed a worst case scenario spill to the expert panel involving cold temperatures and plenty of snow.

The panel says Enbridge is drafting an emergency response plan that would address such a scenario.

"The plans that we would develop would indicate specifically what those response times would be and our emergency response plan would address various scenarios, various times of year.  So we would use the plan that's respective of the conditions at the time."

Skeena-Bulkley Valley NDP MP Nathan Cullen is among those who will ask questions about spill response.

The hearings will continue at the Columbus Community Centre until Friday and at the Ramada from October 29th to November 9th.
