NewsFort St. James Recruits Another Physician
It's more good news for the community of Fort St. James with the successful recruitment of yet another doctor to town. Doctor Hennie Putter will begin working in March bringing the number of full-time physicians in Fort St. James to four in addition to one part-time doctor. Mayor Rob MacDougall says while it's a much more comfortable number to have staffing his community, council and Northern Health cannot stand pat. "Because of the high-risk activities we have, and the new mine going in, and exploration work, forestry, everything that's associated with the work we do, plus our recreational activities. Our efforts to attract doctors will be ongoing." MacDougall isn't too concerned about being able to keep the outside physicians in town as he's confident they will be made to feel very comfortable and very much at home. Two full-time doctors will begin work in Fort St. James in January with Putter's arrival two months later becoming the fourth full-time physician in the district. Most Viewed Stories
