The Ministry of Transportation, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement, RCMP, and ICBC are helping drivers prepare for winter today.

They're holding their annual Shift Into Winter road check, handing out useful information on winter driving.

District Operations Manager with the Fort George District, Trent Folk, says it's friendly reminder to drivers on how to drive in winter conditions.

"The forecasts are calling for snow in the Prince George area here this weekend, and we just wanted to hand out some information to make sure that people are starting to think about winter and prepare for winter driving."

Folk says while it's not snowing in Prince George yet, the areas surrounding the city have been getting snow, so if drivers are headed out onto the highway they need to be prepared.

He says the stuff they're passing along to drivers today includes information on winter tires, other things drivers can do to equip their vehicles for winter driving, and information on DriveBC for when they're heading out on road trips.
