Northern Health is encouraging all Prince George residents to protect themselves from the influenza virus this winter by getting the flu shot.

Flu clinics will be starting up next week at various locations in the city.

Carolyn Bouchard is with Northern Health.

"They're starting in the community on Monday with some seniors centres that we're going to be going to, and then we've got several other places that we are looking at this year. Community centres, Pine Centre Mall, we'll have our usual drop-in on Fridays starting on November the 2nd. A couple of the schools have offered us space, and family resource centres."

Bouchard says the people considered high risk when it comes to the flu are children from 0 to 4 years old, anyone from 4 to 64 years old with a chronic illness, and anyone over the age of 65.

She says the only age group they can't immunize are babies under 6 months old.

A schedule of where and when the flu clinics are taking place is available on the Northern Health website.
