Highway 97 south of Prince George has re-opened to traffic after being closed for much of the night after a fatal accident.

Just before 10:00pm last night, police received reports of a two vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 97 and Buckhorn road about 15 kilometres south of town.

One person died as a result of the crash while others were sent to Prince George hospital with injuries.

The Highway remained closed to traffic until about 2:00am.
