A day to celebrate public workers in Prince George is being considered.  At the last city council meeting CUPE 1048 representatives made the recommendation to declare June 23rd Community Day in Prince George.  CUPE 1048 President Janet Bigelow says the day will offer give people a chance to learn what services the city offers.

"And to celebrate the people who work at the city," says Bigelow, "because we don't only work at the city, we live in the city, we volunteer in the city, we raise our children in the city, so it's to celebrate city workers."

Bigelow says CUPE locals across Canada have created their own Community Days in their respective city.  They hope with council's blessing to celebrate Community Day in 2013.
