Prince George, B.C.

Prince George has received over 1 million dollars from the Strategic Community Investment Fund.

The money is combined from the Small Community and Regional District Grants, and the Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing program.

City Councillor Cameron Stolz says the money will go to police enforcement costs.

"The Traffic Fine Revenue is shared with the municipalities every year. So Traffic Fine Revenue is limited as to what we can use it for. We can't use it to pave roads unfortunately, so it goes towards crime mitigation."

Stolz says the funding usually goes to Community Policing and its programs.
