Pipeline Hearings Attract All Kinds of Speakers

The Northern Gateway Pipeline hearings got underway in Prince George today.

A number of people are speaking at the hearings, including Barb Coupe, a registered professional forester.

She says foresters are always trying to be about long-term sustainability, where as a project like this isn't.

"About 90 years from now, a lot of those clearcuts that everyone sees now are going to be growing harvestable forests, and hopefully that dedication to sustainability will continue even further down the road. I don't see that with the oil, it's just extraction."

The hearings continue tomorrow at 9am at the Civic Centre.
