The City of Prince George and the Community Foundation have entered into a partnership for the Lakeland Fire Assistance Fund.

Mayor Shari Green says the new partnership will allow the Community Foundation to give funds to the City to distribute to the new Prince George Community Fire Assistance Fund Society.

"Part of the agreement that the City will have with the Community Foundation is that it is the Society that will make the decisions and dispurse the funds."

The Foundation is only able to grant funds to registered charities or societies, but the City can grant funds to non-registered ones.

So the City can now give funds to the new Society, and the Society will then issue cheques to individuals.
