Prince George, B.C.

The results are in from the Prince George air quality focus groups.

A lot of people think the air quality in Prince George negatively affects the impressions others have of the city.

Tiina Watt with the city says a lot of people also don't realize that they can help change the air quality themselves.

"With this study we were able to identify how we can work to encourage change, at the resident type scale of their behaviour, and how they can change.  What we see in the report, a lot of the residents weren't really recognizing that they themselves make that change, and how it can impact city-wide," said Watt.

Watt says a lot of people identified the city's "bowl shape" as a main factor as to why the air quality can be poor.

Respondents also said they're skeptical that anything is actually being done to improve the air quality.

Watt says PGAIR and the City want to work on getting more information out there in regards to what they are doing to improve it, as they are actually doing quite a lot.
