Tree seedlings are being planted in Prince George today to mark 1,000 days until the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Five sporting organizations have been randomly drawn to help plant 1,000 seedlings at four locations around town.
They include Rainbow Park, the lower section of University Way, the Pine Valley Golf Course, and the PG Golf and Curling Club.
Spokesman Mike Davis says the locations have been chosen based on the extent of mountain pine beetle damage.
"Every group that we've engaged on this, they've welcomed us with open arms. The golf courses in particular were hit pretty heavily and Rainbow Park as well. So we worked with the City to find locations that really needed these seedlings."
Each organization will receive $1,000 from the 2015 Canada Winter Games Legacy Fund.
