BLACK BEAR NUMBERS INCREASE IN PG

Prince George, B.C.- Black bear sightings continue to increase in the Prince George region.

Northern Bear Awareness Spokeswoman, Rachel Caira (KYE-RA) says since June 1st, there has been 105 black bear complaints, bringing this years total to 245.

She says four more bears have been destroyed in the last two weeks, bringing the total to 8 since April.

Caira advises people to take down their bird feeders for the summer, as they are easy meals for bears.

She suggests people use a bird bath if they want birds to visit their property.

Caira says a few stones emerging from the water will appeal to smaller birds and butterflies.
