Around 80% of students in the College of New Caledonia's mining program have obtained jobs before graduating.  This semester saw around 40 students take CNC's certificate program.  Communications Director Randall Heidt says the mining program at CNC prepares students for entry level positions.

"So they're learning everything from mine focused courses and safety," says Heidt, "simulator experience on excavators, doing me field experience and other things like human relations training."

Heidt says anyone interested in mining is encouraged to sign up.  New provincial funding will allow CNC's to offer its mining program at all their campuses across the North.
