Snow Packs in Northern BC Remain High

Cool and dry conditions in Northern British Columbia during May have led to persistently high snow packs.
The BC River Forecast Centre reports the Upper Fraser and Nechako basins are both at 174 percent of normal.
But spokesman Dave Campbell advises caution when looking at percent of normal values this time of year.
"Not so much the percent of normal, but really how much water is left to pose an ongoing risk, so that's certainly what we're looking at and the provisional survey [today], will give us a bit better handle on how that snow is melting."
Campbell says about 70 percent of the snow pack remains in the Upper Fraser Basin and 80 percent in the Nechako.
He says based on the amount of snow pack in each basis left to melt, more flooding is a real possibility.
