Prince George residents have been treated to a warmer and dryer than normal July this year.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele says the first four days of the month were cool and wet.

"Summer kicked in with afternoon temperatures reaching or exceeding 20 degrees every day from the 5th to the end of the month and 16 days had daytime highs of 25 or higher."

Steele says only 29.3 mm of rain fell last month, compared to the normal of 63.5 mm and down from 112 mm last July.

He says the cooler and wetter weather being experienced today is not expected to stick around.

Steele predicts the rain will dissipate Wednesday evening with temperatures in the twenties returning Thursday.
