The Chair of the provincial government's Special Committee on Timber Supply is hoping the Ministry of Forests will move quickly on recommendations set to be handed in within a matter of weeks.

Nechacko Lakes MLA John Rustad says the all-party committee is meeting again this week to discuss and debate what to put forward to the government after several community consultations over the past couple months.

"Our hope is that we'll have a fairly quick response from the Ministry especially for the situation for Burns Lake as well as for Lakeland Mills in Prince George so that they can get a little bit more understanding of where that mid-term fibre supply is going," said Rustad.

Rustad says aside from the two mills devastated by explosions earlier this year, many other companies are anxious to move forward with mill upgrades and other future plans but are waiting for results of the committee's report.

The committee must hand over its list of recommendations to the Legislature by August 15th.
