--Emma Balazs of the Prince George Track
Club edged Regan Lee of Hazelton by less
than a second to capture gold in the U18
women's 2,000 metre steeplechase at the
Legion Canadian Youth Track and Field
Championships in Charlottetown, PEI.
  Balazs finished the race in 6:57:65 followed
by Lee in 6:58:52. A total of seven competed.
  Meanwhile, Balazs took bronze in the 1,500
metres as the 17-year-old Kelly Road
student placed 3rd out of 25 runners with a
personal-best time of 4:38:30. She was
nearly three seconds off the pace.
