At least one Prince George City Councillor is hailing a decision to review the potential for Internet voting.

BC's chief electoral officer will look at best practices for implementing Internet voting at local and provincial levels.

Garth Frizzell says Internet voting could definitely improve voter turnout, which appears to be constantly decreasing.

However, he says there are areas of concern that he is pleased will be addressed prior to a decision being made.

"So you have a lot of issues to deal with: authentication, making sure there isn't a possibility of voter intimidation, making sure that it's something that improves the system."

The BC Government has asked the chief electoral officer to form a panel to investigate Internet voting.
