The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has donated $5000 to help construct a replicate of the Williams Creek Schoolhouse in Barkerville.  The RDFFG has partnered with the Cariboo Regional District who are also giving $5000 towards the project.  Fraser-Fort George Chair Art Kaehn says they wanted to support the construction of the schoolhouse because of its historical and educational significance.

"A lot of our kids have spent time in the current schoolhouse getting an old time education," says Kaehn, "and it just seemed appropriate we continue this on with the 150th anniversary of Barkerville."

Kaehn says the construction of the replicate Williams Creek Schoolhouse is estimated to be around $100,000.  The original schoolhouse burned down decades ago and the construction will allow people to get a full schoolhouse experience at Barkerville.
