NewsFort St James Council Votes NO to Enbridge Pipeline
The District of Fort St James has added its name to the growing list of communities opposed to the Northern Gateway Project. Mayor Rob MacDougall says council didn't come to the decision hastily. "We've talked to local individuals, we've done a lot of research through the web and that. At the end of the day we felt the risks to our community and the province outweighed the benefits." Terrace, Prince Rupert, Smithers and the Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District have all made it clear they are opposed the proposed pipeline. A Joint Review Panel is currently studying the project. If approved, Enbridge would build twin pipeline across Northern BC. Most Viewed Stories
