A handful of historic military vehicles on a journey to Fairbanks, Alaska stopped in Prince George Monday.

The goal is to raise awareness of Veterans and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Alaska Highway.

Convey Coordinator John Hawthorne says some hiccups have already occurred only a few days into the journey.

"It's get them running and making sure that they're going to make it, so we carry a bunch of spare parts and hopefully, keep our fingers crossed," says Hawthorne.  "We've had a couple of minor problems, but we've had a nice resolve of them so far."

Hawthorne says the group will pick-up another six vehicles from Edmonton in Dawson Creek, bringing the total to 15.

The 6,000 km journey has been organized by the Western Command Military Vehicle Historical Society.
