Prince George, B.C.

Two stranded rafters were rescued from an island on the Nechako River Friday afternoon.  Just after 3:30 pm Prince George Fire Rescue got word a woman had fallen off a floatation device and fire rescue, RCMP and BC Ambulance responded to the river near Stevens Drive.

Using a resident's boat the two rafters were rescued from an island between Hanbury and Rustad Roads, between the Foothills Bridge and the John Hart Bridge.  Neither rafter was injured in the incident.

Prince George Fire Rescue reminds people the Fraser and Nechako Rivers are still fast flowing and all necessary safety precautions need to take place.  Also caution is needed along river banks where erosion may occur.
