First Nations child welfare groups from Northern BC are taking action to address issues related to children in care.
Directors representing eight agencies met with the deputy minister for Children and Family Development recently.
Carrier Sekani Family Services Executive Director Warner Adam says Stephen Brown has promised goals will be set.
"Short-term goals deals with issues related to practice and standards around family and child services and long-term goals looking at governance issues related to structure and authority."
Adam says committees have been created and tasked with addressing several issues in a given time frame.
He says another meeting has been scheduled with the Minister of Children and Family Development in October.
