The City of Prince George now has guidelines as to what they'd like to see with new developments downtown.

Mayor Shari Green says it covers everything from doors, to canopies, and height.

"The development guidelines for downtown is a document that people can use to refer to. What it is that the shape of the downtown looks like when you're thinking about building a building or doing a major renovation - what are the kinds of things we want to see."

Green says wood designs are encouraged.

She says the guidelines help developers picture what council and administration would like to see as a city, so that it is harmonious with other structures around a particular site.
